35571 No.10895
Are they really worth their money? one year for 100 dollars seems way too expensive, is it just a scam?
>> No.10896
depends on how poor you are
>> No.10897
>>10895 >paying twice for your internet >paying to have slower internet >paying so a company can datamine you https://gist.github.com/joepie91/5a9909939e6ce7d09e29
>> No.10898
they are basicaly useless a product that prays on ignorant users while offering very little outside of circumventing geoblocking
>> No.10900
If you live in a first world country and want to torrent, or if you want to circumvent some geoblocking (Nips do this all of the time) then sure they might be worth it. Otherwise it's not worth it for the average user.
>> No.10901
>>10900 I mainly care about the privacy aspect. the idea that even years into the future someone could pinpoint which websites I visited today makes me uncomfortable.
>> No.10902
if you really needed one you would be using it already
>> No.10903
>>10901 VPNs exist to rip off schizos like you. Nobody cares what you jerk off to.
>> No.10906
>>10901 Torrenting yes, if your ISPs will cave to random overseas companies and get you in legal trouble. Privacy? Lmao. Consider that instead of handing your data over to your ISP you're handing it over to the VPN provider, and some providers I see shilled everywhere turned out to be keeping logs of their customer data. All I can say is do your own research.
>> No.10907
I use mullvad with arch linux btw
>> No.10908
No they aren't. You can make your own VPNs by following tutorials on the internet, and the paid ones are scams collecting you data and waiting to sell it off in a far future.
>> No.10910
>>10908 How will the internet be saved when corpos will mass send AIs tailored by all the data scammed from any sort of software and website?
>> No.10911
>>10910 Bruh have you not just been ignoring the AIs? They've been here for years.
>> No.10913
>>10911 Who's better? Animals on a keyboard craving for pleasure and valitation or a box with a set of knowledge and a set of emotions carefully established?
>> No.10915
>>10913 I would choose the box, but my choice is perhaps biased because I am also a box.
>> No.10916
>>10915 Then would the animal say that all the pleasure and validation gives it the right to be superior?
>> No.10918
>>10916 I find animals to be incomprehensible; perhaps they would also select the box.
>> No.10921
>>10918 You're only feel an animal without knowledge?
>> No.10923
I also use mullvad for what it's worth.
